Catalogue note
A study in how much one color can carry: cadmium red as ground, subject and atmosphere at once, with white, black, yellow and cobalt line doing the wayfinding. The vocabulary is glyphic -- spirals, combs, triangles, a sun-face medallion with radiating spokes -- closer to sign-writing than scene-painting. The canvas keeps its own records in small cartouches: a heart holding the age-mark 25, letters painted in reverse.
