Catalogue note
One field of cadmium red carrying everything: flowers, faces, a vase, birds and a great looping form through the centre, all drawn over the top in teal, viridian and violet line. Restricting the ground to a single high-key colour and letting drawing do the remaining work is a discipline he returns to across the body of work. Two texts sit at opposite corners and argue with each other -- LOVE ALWAYS WIN at the left, ALL WE R DUST IN THE WIND at the right -- with the signature and the age-mark 25 stacked between them.
