Catalogue note
The most densely written canvas here and the only one in landscape format: the Houston skyline rendered tower by tower in acid blues, magentas and greens, with a monumental head rising at the left as though the city were thinking it. Text saturates the surface at every scale -- BE YOUR SELF, NO MATTER, THE BEGINNING & END, NIGHT FALL, FREEDOM IS MINE -- painted in different hands and different directions, so the canvas has to be read the way a wall is read rather than the way a page is. A saucer hovers over the towers, a motif that recurs across this run.
