Catalogue note
A standing figure with one arm raised, drawn in the crowned-skull idiom Basquiat made into a language and answered here in his own hand: the head compartmented into small coloured cells, the ribs and organs rendered as diagram, a snail and a small dog keeping watch at the feet. The ground is a vertical wash of violet into acid yellow, scraped thin. The lettering breaks across the top so that TO and GET stack into TOGETHER before releasing into WE CAN, and LOVE THY runs down the right margin. The frame is painted as part of the work and carries the signature.
